Frequently Asked Questions

What is a deferred deposit, or post-dated check advance?

A short-term money advance of loan proceeds provided until your next payday when we will electronically take the loan amount out of your account.

How does this advance work?

We make a cash advance against your post dated check or electronic payment draft of up to $600 (plus 4% Hawaii State GET) until your next payday.

What is an electronic payment draft?

An electronic payment draft is a draft that is electronically debited from your savings or checking account.

What are your requirements?

We require your most recent bank statement from your checking or savings account with direct payroll deposit, 2 most recent pay stubs or income verification form, most recent telephone bill and identification issued by the State of Hawaii (driver’s license or ID card).

What is the charge for this service?

A fee of 15% (plus 4% Hawaii State GET) of the face amount of the check or electronic payment draft is charged for the advance.

What if I have bad credit?

We do not do a formal credit check.  You will be qualified and scored based on the information you submit with your application.

What if I get social security?

We can give advances to people on social security based upon their income and it being directly deposited into your bank account.

What if I do not have a driver’s license or I.D. card?

We cannot make advances to people without a current driver’s license or Hawaii State I.D. card.

How long do you give advances for?

We can give up to 31 days to pay back the advance.  However, the due date must be set to coincide with your payday.

Could I make payments on my advance if I can’t afford to pay off the full amount?

PayDayHawaii understands that expenses come up, and we are willing to work with you.  If you know that you won't have enough money in your account to cover your advance by the due date, CALL US!  If we do not hear from you, you may incur additional late charges and bank NSF fees.

The next time I come in do I have to bring all the requirements again?

Only if anything changes, but once you apply for an advance you become a member and are in the system.

If I already have an advance, can I make another one?

You can only have one advance out at a time.

What if I have filed bankruptcy?

If six months or more has past since your bankruptcy, we may still be able to give you an advance. Please discuss this with our representative.

If I find out late that the check I authorized you to cash will not be good, what should I do?

It is very important that you contact us immediately!  If not, you could be charged extra fees on top of what you already owe!

Do you have to deposit my check, or can you hold it so I can pick it up?

You may redeem your check or electronic payment draft for cash at any of our locations.
